This mind power technique falls into the motivational category.
I can NOT imagine taking Anti Depressants. I have had about 4 aspirins in the past ten years. I’m not trying to be a smarty pants. I just know that you can retrain your brain to release those endorphins automatically, without drugs, provided you haven’t eliminated all your receptor sites for JOY by using pharmaceuticals. Even then I think they can be rebuilt over time.
One simple little way to Break Out of the start of a BAD MOOD is to collect some Power Tools. Power Tools are pre-set Power Phrases that you are going to say to yourself to jolt yourself into a better space. Here are two of my favorites:
From the movie “Mask,” Jim Carrey says, “Somebody stop me!” and from the movie, “Fried Green Tomatoes,” Kathy Bates character says, “Tawanda!” when the little prissy girls steal her parking space and laugh at her and she rams her big car into their little one, crushing it.
Try it right this minute. Like Tony Robbins says, “Take some action now.” So pick a power tool. Use one of mine if you like them. Think of something that is depressing or upsetting. Notice how you feel. Then stand up and shout out your power tool and notice how you feel afterwards.
Write your power tool on sticky notes and put it in various places to remind you. Let me know how you like this technique. It’s one of my favorites.
