As a hypnotist, I’ve pretty much devoted my life to helping people overcome their fears. Whether it’s a phobia of snakes or generalized anxiety, fear plays a serious role in the functioning of a significant percentage of humans. As of 2010, approximately 40 million Americans sought treatment for some form of anxiety disorder.
Hypnosis is the best way I know to overcome anxiety because there are no harmful side effects, it’s relatively fast and much more effective than traditional talk therapy and, once the client has experienced hypnosis, they can use self-hypnosis to treat themselves.
I recently had a medical student and anxiety sufferer who had been using talk therapy for years. She came in to see me and asked to go through sessions (I usually do five for anxiety) as fast as she could. We agreed on five sessions over a 3 week period.
By the third session, she came in and showed me the email she had sent to her therapist. It said, “Dear John, You haven’t seen me lately because I have been seeing a hypnotist. This stuff really works! You should study it!”
