101 Ways to Be Really Happy: Step #33– See the Universe in a Blade of Grass

This post is in memory of my dear friend, Ernest Suddith, affectionately known to my family and friends as Uncle Ernie, who passed away on August 1, 2014.

Uncle Ernie and I spent hours outdoors enjoying the beautiful scenery in our neighborhood. When the weather was good, in Texas that means less than 90 degrees, we would sit outside and literally watch the grass grow. I never got tired of it.

If you stare softly at a blade of grass long enough, you will be transported to some magical place where life is effortless and always tranquil, and come back refreshed, with whatever problem you were dealing with solved.

For the past couple of months, I haven’t had time to do that since I was care taking him. I miss him and our quiet time together. In the very near future, I plan to sit on the deck of the home that was his and watch the grass grow.

Try it. The best things in life truly are free.
