101 Ways to be Really Happy: Step #45–Go to Your Happy Place as Often as You Can


If you have ever been to a hypnotist, you know what a happy place is. Your happy place is the place you go to in your mind to relax, unwind, feel safe and happy.

Your happy place can be absolutely any place you want and it can change from time to time.

If you’ve done lots of meditation or hypnosis, you may have several happy places. If you’re like me, you have happy places every where you go: at home, at work, in your car, at the restaurant, in the grocery store, you name it.

If you haven’t yet created a happy place yet, follow these instructions.

Close your eyes and think back to a time when you were really, really happy. Feel the feelings, see the sights, hear the sounds, smell the smells. Be there. Now amplify the feelings. Think of a word that symbolizes your happy place. Now think of a color that you associate with your happy place. From now on, any time you think the word, see the color or feel the feelings, you will instantly be back at your happy place. Go there several times a day and stay for a minute at a time.

You might also want to use a photo to trigger the memory.
