One of my favorite “get happy” activities is dancing. If you’ve never tried it, give it a chance. If you are like me and love to dance but hadn’t done much of it lately, start NOW. Even if you simply dance alone at home for 10 minutes every day, you will notice an improvement in your outlook and emotional stability.
You have lots of options to choose from. Since I’m a baby boomer, my personal favorite is the “Sweating to the Oldies” series with Richard Simmons. Being a Texan, I also enjoy Country and Western dancing. And, we have a GREAT yoga center that offers Nia dance classes. Nia is a dance discipline and a spiritual pursuit. You work with an instructor in groups and participants can choose to progress through belts just as in karate.
Whether you dance as part of a self development program, like Nia, or just for the fun of it, more dancing equals more happiness.
